Aurelius Augustine was born of a pagan father and a Christian mother. He received a literacy education in his home city. He wrote in Latin, but knew very little in Greek. He taught Rhetoric at Carthage College. He was converted to Manichaeism, the heresy, and served for 10 years. His mother consistently prayed God for his return to Christianity.
