Some Pharisees had also been sent to John. They asked him, “Why are you baptizing people, if you are not the Messiah, or Elijah, or the prophet?” John told them, “I use water to baptize people. But here with you is someone you don’t know. Even though I came first, I am not good enough to untie his sandals.” (John 1: 24-27).
바리새파 사람들이 보낸 자들이 요한에게 ‘당신이 그리스도도 아니고 엘리야도, 예언자도 아니라면 어째서 세례를 주시오?’ 하고 물었다.
그래서 요한은 그들에게 ‘나는 너희에게 물로 세례를 주지만 너희 가운데는 너희가 알지 못하는 분이 서 계신다. 그분은 내 뒤에 오시는 분이시다. 나는 그 분의 신발끈을 풀어 드릴 자격도 없다’고 대답했다.

The great men in their books talk to us and give us the most precious wisdoms and thoughts, and they pour out their spirits and souls into our hearts. If we go back thirty years and compare our life styles of that period with those of today, we shall notice the great improvements made.
위대한 사람들은 그들의 책을 통해 우리에게 말해주고 우리에게 가장 고귀한 지혜와 사상을 주며 우리 마음속에 그들의 정신과 영혼을 쏟아 부어준다.
만약 우리가 30년을 되돌아가서 그때의 생활 양식을 오늘날의 그것과 비교한다면 우리는 굉장한 발전을 이룩했음을 깨달으리라.
