Fulltime Education Pastor, Korean United Methodist Church of Santa Clara Valley (San Jose, CA)
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Christian leader to oversee the whole educational system of the Korean United Methodist Church of Santa Clara Valley, covering nursery to high school students. The Education Pastor shall seek to foster Christian community through building relationships with the next generation of the Korean Americans that strengthen their commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide general leadership for children and youths, and function as the primary staff person relating to the Children’s Ministry and the preschool. (Since two other pastors are assigned to the youth group, the Education Pastor will use most of his/her time for children and preschoolers and their parents).
2. Conduct weekly preaching & teaching.
3. Be a mentor, companion, resource and role model for the congregation's children/youths and the people who work with them.
4. Build a sense of team-work among the Christian education staff and hold regular staff meetings to coordinate the ministries of the church and facilitate communication.
5. Oversee the recruitment and training of adult volunteers to work with children/youths.
6. Plan and implement age appropriate worships, and Sunday and weekday activities/programs that promote community through fellowship, fun and faith development.
7. Coordinate fund-raising activities that support special activities and trips.
Qualifications:
Since Education Pastor plays a major role in the faith development of the young members of the church, both as a leader and as an example, the Korean United Methodist Church of Santa Clara Valley seeks a professional leader who has a solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith, United Methodist tradition, and who has a strong desire to nurture children and youths in the Christian faith. We seek a person who generates new ideas and programs and a person who values a team concept of ministry. Therefore the following qualifications are desirable.
1. M.Div. or its equivalent is required.
2. Several years of experience and ability to work with children, youths and the parents
3. Assurance of salvation and fruits of faith
4. Good organizational skills

Part-time (20 hours per week) Assistant Youth Pastor, Korean United Methodist Church of Santa Clara Valley (San Jose, CA)
We are seeking a dynamic Christian leader who assists the main youth pastor in directing and leading youth worship and programming for Middle School and High School age youth. The Assistant Youth Pastor shall seek to foster Christian community through building relationships with young people that strengthen their commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities:
1. Weekly Preaching & teaching
2. Plan and implement age appropriate worship for Middle and High School age youth and activities that promote community through fellowship, fun and faith development. Such activities might include; praise teams, small group Bible study, prayer meetings, retreats and service projects.
3. Coordinate fund-raising activities that support special youth activities and trips.
4. Attend weekly staff meetings, monthly YM committee meetings, and any other meetings required by the supervising pastor.
5. Be in contact with office staff and provide a timely and accurate schedule of Youth activities. Keep the congregation informed of youth events by coordinating the publicity for youth activities through the appropriate vehicles provided by the church
