Job Description
Purpose: Children's Ministry (4th - 6th)
Pastor strives to establish the foundation of Christian
faith in 4th, 5th and 6th grader children.
He teams up with volunteers to help children to experience God’s love and the
fellowship of the believers.
Responsible to Senior Pastor and/or Christian Education Committee
Time
requirements: Part-time.
Description of duties
§ Studies and presents biblical messages for the children to meet their
spiritual needs
§ Coordinates worship service
to run smoothly and worshipfully.
§ Recruits, supports, empowers and
mentors department staff and volunteers.
§ Provide appropriate Sunday school curriculum for children’s ministry programs
§ Coordinates and delegates tasks for
annual programs of the department.
§ Plans, prepares, and lead Children's
ministry events, including, but not limited to, VBS, HolyWins, and Christmas
presentations.
§ Prepares and administrates the annual Children's ministry budget.
§ Develops and maintains appropriate
safety and security guidelines for children’s ministry programs, including
health issues, and other procedures to ensure the safety and security of children
participating in the church’s ministries.
§ Represents children, parents and the department and bring their needs and concerns before the church’s education committee and congregation.
§ Works with the senior pastor and/or Christian
education committee to plan and to
conduct excellent children’s ministry.
§ Stays
current on trends, teaching methods, materials, promotional ideas,
administrative methods, and other children’s ministry techniques, and implement
these as appropriate.
§ Contact families of new children the week after they
visit the church to ask about the children’s experiences in Sunday school
classes or other programs.
§ Plans and directs special events such
as monthly Fellowship Day (first Sunday of the month), quarterly Bible
Memorization Contests and Talent Parties, 6th Grader Retreat and Vacation
Bible School.
§ Assists special church events for children.
§ Attends education department
meetings, including, but not limited to, Monthly Ed. dept. meeting and the
Sunday devotional meeting.
Qualifications, skills, and gifts
§ Assurance of salvation and burdens to
share the gospel.
§ Vision and passion for bringing up
the next generation of faith
§ Sound scriptural training and gift of
teaching and/or preaching
§ Christ-like character and supportive
personality (listening and understanding)
§ Loves children and demonstrates patience in dealing with
them.
§ Able to communicate and organize
§ Able to work both
independently and with a team of volunteers.
§ Currently registered in or graduated accredited Seminary for
M. Div. or MA in Christian Ed.
